SABA handshake event

Event ticket

Today I went to Kamiya’s handshake event. This was my second handshake event with Kamiya, the first time being at CharaHobby 2009 for his release of Hare no Hi.

The lights went down and Such a beautiful affair started playing as lights flashed at the back of the stage. You would think that he might come out and start singing but he didn’t. ^^; He came out on stage normally and talked a little bit about what he was doing in the green room, etc. His outfit was the same one as the bonus postcard for Animate.

My number was in the later 200s so it was about an hour until my turn. I was so nervous that I just wanted to sit in my seat and watch Kamiya from afar, LoL. There were 4-5 boys. So curious as to what they talked to Kamiya about since he laughed when talking to a couple of them. So cute!

Sooooooooo nervous when I had to go on stage. When it was my turn, I went up in front of him, put down my bag and shook his hand. Well, at handshake events in Japan, it’s more like shaking someone’s hands with both hands, minus the shaking, LoL. You just kind of hold that pose while you talk. Just as it was 3 years ago, Kamiya’s hands were so soft and warm! Wahhhh~~!!!

Our “conversation” went something like this:

Me: Konnichiwa. (Hello.)
Kamiya: Konbanwa. Onamae wa nan desu ka? (Good evening. What’s your name?)
Me: [my name] to moushimasu. (My name is ______.)
Kamiya: *tilts his head since I have a foreign name*
Me: A, Amerika kara kiteimasu. Ima Nihon ni sundeimasu kedo. (Ah, I came from America, though I’m living in Japan right now.)
Kamiya: A, arigatou gozaimasu! (Oh, thank you!)
Me: Hatsubai omedetou gozaimasu. (Congratulations on the release.)
Kamiya: Arigatou gozaimasu.
Me: KiraFes wo tanoshimi ni shiteimasu. Ganbatte kudasai! (I’m really looking forward to KiraFes. Please do your best!)
Kamiya: Arigatou gozaimasu. Ganbarimasu! (Thank you. I will!)

I was surprised when he asked what my name was. Apparently he asked everyone. Anyway, I was actually prepared to introduce myself without him asking so he kind of ruined the script I had in my head, LoL. I was still able to say the things I wanted to say though so it was okay in the end. I’m just happy I didn’t stutter or fumble over my words as I usually do when I’m nervously talking to a seiyuu. ^^; I wanted to say that the last time I met him was 3 years ago but I didn’t get a chance. Everyone had about 10 seconds to talk with him.

Ahh~~ Kamiya <333 He’s so nice! After signing the names of 400 people for the signing event and then having to shake hands with 400 more people, I’m sure he was very tired but he kept a smile and was very attentive to everyone the entire time. What a great guy! I really wish I could have a normal conversation with him instead of being pressured by staffers to move along. Oh well.

Had a great time today and I hope Kamiya enjoyed meeting with his fans as much as we were happy to meet him. Maybe I can meet him again in another 3 years? ^^;

This past weekend was Dengeki 20th and the annual DGS public recording took place on Sunday, October 21 at 1PM at Stage 2. The episode will air this week on DGS #290.

I arrived at Makuhari Messe around 9AM on Saturday. Already there was a very, very long line. Doors opened at 10AM and I got in around 10:15. My first stop was the Bunka Housou booth where I picked up the HiroC and OnoD tshirts, and the Nyaa san strap. It was funny because the staff guy asked me, “You don’t need an Oinarisan?” XD Nnn… Sorry. I don’t buy Frisk so I have no use for it. I guess the staff were afraid they might end up with extras so they were trying to get people to buy, LoL. Yagihashi kun was at the booth and people could take pictures with him. I wanted just a picture of him alone but he said he would be lonely so I had to jump into the photo. ^^; I didn’t really have anything to say to him so I just shook his hand and thanked him for the photo. After, I tried going to the Girls’ Shop in the other hall to get the DGS Hibiki goods but OMG, the line……… It snaked about three long rows and then turned the corner. I lined up for about an hour but then got out since I would miss the first stage event. I ended up going back there near closing time. There was no line at that time and I was able to easily buy the DGS Hibiki art book and new drama CD. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that there were some DGS sign/illustration boards in the gallery area so I didn’t go to take photos. (Dengeki Online has photos of them here.) I did take photos of the DGS Hizuki exhibit however. There was a large color illustration panel, designs of HiroC and OnoD in their different forms, and rough sketches of the logo, etc.

Word was that the event staff were being strict about overnighting so instead of lining up outside, my friends and I stayed over at the karaoke place near the station and timed our lining up with the first train. I had an awkward moment because as I headed to the karaoke place, I had to go through the train station (the karaoke place is on the other side) and as I went through, UchiP was walking in the other direction. He saw me and immediately averted his eyes, probably because I was wearing a DGS tshirt. ^^;;;;; Yeah, not too sure what to think about that, LoL. Anyway, even though we left earlier than when the first train was supposed to arrive, there were already around 300 people lined up! It was mostly guys but still there were quite a handful of girls (read: rivals). When the flood gates opened, my friends and I dashed over to Stage 2. For the first time ever, we didn’t get first row… We were second row, which is nothing to sneeze at, but still. =( Luckily I had a clear view between the girls in front of me. If the stage area and layout were like CharaHobby then I probably would have gotten first row. At Dengeki 20th, the standing area is only in the back behind the seating whereas at CharaHobby it was in the back and also on the right and left sides. My friends and I always got first row on the right side at CharaHobby.

On the first day there were no problems getting into the standing area to watch the stages but it was completely full on the second day. It was so full that they stopped allowing people in and once you got in, they wouldn’t let you out and back in. This means if you had to go to the bathroom (like me) then you had to hold it. >_>; Anyway, this just reminded me of how popular DGS is.

The DGS public recording was the second event for the day. 3 minutes before it began, Yagihashi kun and Chanko chan came up on stage to explain the usual rules (no photograph, recording, etc). They acted as if they had switched bodies though with Yagihashi kun wearing Chanko-like overalls and Chanko chan wearing clothes like something Yagihashi kun would wear. To get back into their own bodies they had to bump into each other. They left the stage after their mini skit and then the real show began! Read more…
